Commissions

If you are considering commissioning me for a custom painting, thank you! Painting for someone else is a different kind of special and I love doing it. Before you commission me, here is some useful information and guidelines to consider:

Commissions can be pricier than my original paintings, depending on the difficulty, time demand of the subject matter, and deadlines asked for by the customer.

It may take many weeks or months to receive your artwork after you've commissioned it, and you will probably be put next in line behind someone else. Ordering 4-8 months in advance is a good idea, especially for larger pieces.

My realistic style is how I do art; I have a hard time replicating other styles and won't recreate someone else's art.

The mediums I work in are oil paints and charcoal.

A good quality reference image must be provided. I recommend you use one of your own, but if you don't have one of what you want, find an image that is licensable for use. In some cases, you may have to ask permission from the photographer or owner of the image if you can use it to create a painting.

If you want to combine a couple of images, add things into an image, change the colors or lighting of an image, etc... I would also recommend finding a way to create a single image that looks as close as possible to how you want it! This will make it much easier for me to depict what's in your imagination and have a better outcome.

I may refuse to paint or draw the subject that you choose if I don't agree with it or if it is out of my range of ability.

It is generally a good idea to wait to get your commissioned work framed until it is in your possession. Frames can add much more expense to shipping and may be damaged in the process.

I try to make shipping free for commission orders, but it is not always guaranteed depending on how large your commission is and where you reside (usually I cannot provide free shipping outside of the continental US).

I am not currently taking any commissions for portraits (I hope after some more practice I will feel confident to accept them!!).

I am open to any questions about commissions!
